Known issues

Security warning in Internet Explorer when run from a local file system

When a page containing QuestAgent search applet or JavaScript is opened from a local file system, Internet Explorer may show a warning message in the information bar at the top of the page: “To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer”. To start QuestAgent, click on the information bar and choose “Allow Blocked Content…” and then again click OK to confirm that you want to run the active content.

If you’re annoyed by this message, you can allow active content in Internet Explorer options.

Remarks

  • Classic (visible) QuestAgent search applet can be used without JavaScript enabled in browser but features and interaction capabilities will be limited.
  • Publishers making any significant changes to QuestAgent’s JavaScript libraries during customization/integration are advised to re-test on target platforms to make sure that the same level of compatibility is retained. (You may also hire us to integrate or customize QuestAgent for your documentation site.)
